Tea Palace Rose Oolong is an exclusive blend of da hong pao oolong leaves and pure pink rosebuds for a beautiful floral blend with subtle and yet complex characteristics.

Da Hong Pao (or Big Red Robe) Oolong is one of the oldest and most famous Oolongs produced in China.

Hailing from the Wuyi Mountains, this tea is said to have received its name when a Ming Dynasty Emperor used expensive red cloth to wrap four tea bushes in honour after their leaves were used to cure his unwell mother from a long illness. Indeed; four ancient bushes can still be found on a cliff in the Wuyi Mountains today and Da Hong Pao leaves are said to originate from these four plants. Today, Da Hong Pao Oolong is still limited in supply, earning it the distinction of being one of the most expensive teas in the world.

Rose Oolong combines the aromatic, nutty and slightly sweet characteristics of roasted oolong leaves with the delicate, floral tones of rosebuds. The result is a delightful blend where rose naturally accentuates the sweetness of the complex oolong flavours whilst producing subtle and yet distinct perfume notes. When steeped, a copper-brown liquor is produced with a sweet and floral aroma with a note of honey.

About Rose Oolong

Rose Oolong is a flavoured oolong tea that combines the floral notes of rose petals with the rich and complex flavours of oolong tea. This blend creates a fragrant and aromatic infusion with a delightful interplay between the natural sweetness of oolong and the romantic essence of rose.

Dried rose petals are added to the oolong tea to impart a floral and aromatic character to the blend. The rose petals contribute both to the visual appeal and the overall sensory experience of the tea.

Rose Oolong offers a well-balanced flavour profile. The oolong base provides a complex and sometimes creamy taste, while the rose petals add a sweet and floral layer. The result is a tea with a harmonious interplay between the natural oolong flavours and the romantic essence of rose.

The aroma of Rose Oolong is characterized by the sweet and captivating scent of roses, complemented by the inherent fragrance of the oolong tea. The blend aims to create an aromatic experience that is both inviting and soothing.

The brewed liquor of Rose Oolong can vary in colour depending on the specific oolong tea used. It may range from a light amber to a deeper golden hue.

Oolong tea contains moderate caffeine levels, providing a moderate energy boost. The addition of rose petals does not significantly impact the overall caffeine content.

Rose Oolong can be enjoyed both hot and cold. It is often served plain, without the need for sweeteners or milk, to fully appreciate the natural flavours of the tea and roses.

The potential health benefits associated with oolong tea, such as antioxidants and polyphenols, are retained in Rose Oolong. Some cultures also attribute various therapeutic properties to roses.
